System separator BA Kompakt 1/2" with controllable differential pressure
System separator with controllable pressure-reduced zones Type BA
Technical data
- Operating differential pressure: 14 kPa
- Medium temperature range: 0–65 °C
- PN (nominal pressure): PN10
- material: dezincification-resistant brass DR "low lead"
Notes on the system separator
It is essential that a 577 Series strainer be installed upstream.
How it works
The type CA backflow preventer with non-controllable differential pressure consists of an inlet-side check valve (1), an outlet-side check valve (2), and a drain device (3). The two check valves separate three different zones with three different pressures: the inlet chamber (A), the intermediate chamber (B), also known as the differential pressure zone, and the outlet chamber (C). The drain device (3) is located in the center. The drain device (3) is directly connected to the diaphragm (4). This movable assembly is controlled during opening and closing by the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet pressure of the check valve and the contrast spring (5).
Correct flow conditions
Under normal flow conditions, both check valves
open, whereby the pressure in the intermediate chamber (B) is always below the inlet-side pressure (A) due to a pre-calculated pressure loss at the first non-return valve (1).
The pressure difference therefore acts on the inner membrane (4) and generates a force that opens the discharge valve (3) communicating with the atmosphere by
Pressure on the contrast spring (5) keeps it closed.
Inlet-side negative pressure
When the inlet pressure drops, both check valves close. The drain valve (3) opens as soon as the pressure difference Δp between the inlet chamber (A) and the middle chamber (B) reaches a value just below the pre-calculated value on the contrast spring (5). The drain continues until the intermediate chamber of the system separator is empty. In this way, an air zone (safety zone) is created and prevents contaminated water from the circuit (C) from flowing back into the water supply network, even in the event of the backflow preventer (2) failing. As soon as the normal condition is restored (inlet pressure higher than outlet pressure), the drain valve closes and the
System separator is operational again.
Outlet-side overpressure
If the pressure in the outlet chamber (C) rises to the point where it exceeds the inlet pressure (A), the backflow preventer (2) closes, preventing the water already supplied to the consumer from flowing back toward the public water supply. If the backflow preventer (2) leaks or another malfunction occurs in the system separator, the system separator always interrupts (disconnects) the connection between the consumer and the public water supply.Like all devices with a positive effect, the system separator is technically and structurally designed to guarantee the highest safety standards in every situation.
