Product overview

The SPSRR stratified buffer tank is a versatile hot water storage tank for heating, solid fuel, and solar systems, as well as combined heat and power plants. It was developed to ensure optimized stratification of temperature zones and efficient heat exchange.

Construction and materials

The tank and embedded smooth-tube heat exchangers are made of high-quality S235JRG2 steel and comply with DIN 4753 and EN 12897. The heat exchangers are firmly welded into the tank, ensuring stability and durability.

The storage tank sits on a support ring; the tank is raw inside and primed black on the outside. The tank's maximum operating pressure is 5 bar; two sockets for electric heating cartridges are also provided.

Layer technology and heat exchangers

For improved stratification, stratification channels and a stratification plate are integrated into the storage tank. These measures ensure that return flow from the heating circuits is directed in a targeted manner and that temperature zones are clearly separated.

Smooth tube heat exchangers integrated at the top and bottom enable the simultaneous and efficient use of solar thermal and heating systems, thereby increasing system flexibility.

Connections and assembly

The 90° angled coupling arrangement facilitates assembly and simplifies the electrical and hydraulic connection of multiple buffer storage tanks. This significantly simplifies installation in complex systems.

The easy installation is further supported by the robust construction and the provided connections for electric heating cartridges, so that retrofitting is also possible without any complications.

Overview of insulation options

The storage tank is available in various insulation versions: 100 mm EPS (efficiency class C), 130 mm EPS AirPor® (efficiency class B), and 150 mm PU super rigid foam (efficiency class A) for storage tank sizes from 600 to 1000 liters. Each version features a matching plastic casing and sealing strip.

EPS AirPor® grey insulation

EPS AirPor® insulation combines polystyrene foam with graphite nanoparticles, increasing heat reflection and reducing heat loss. Typical features include up to 30% less heat loss compared to conventional insulation and a thermal conductivity of 0.0316 W/mK according to DIN EN 12667.

The insulation is lightweight, stable, 100% recyclable, and quick to install. Efficiency class B is achieved with 130 mm insulation thickness (110 mm EPS + 20 mm fleece) and 150 mm of roof insulation; efficiency class C corresponds to 100 mm insulation thickness (80 mm EPS + 20 mm fleece) and 100 mm roof insulation.

PU super rigid foam insulation

The PU super rigid foam insulation offers excellent insulating properties with a thermal conductivity of 0.023 W/mK according to DIN EN 12667. The design includes 150 mm PU plus 10 mm PV fleece lamination and a silver-gray PS sheath (RAL 9006) with a terminal block.

The insulation is removable, making it particularly easy to install under all temperature conditions. The fleece lamination reduces convection losses on the container wall, lid, and sleeves; the solution is environmentally friendly, skin-friendly, and recyclable.
