Hygiene storage tank with solar register & Insulation A
Heating water buffer tank with domestic hot water heating WGJ-BN INOX SOLAR
Structure and intended use
The WGJ-BN INOX SOLAR is a combined buffer storage tank for heating water and domestic hot water with an integrated stainless steel heating coil as a heat exchanger. It was designed for integration into central heating systems with boilers, heat pumps, or for the use of solar heat, and enables both the storage of heating energy and the continuous heating of drinking water.
Inside are two separate heating coils: one made of black steel tubing for an additional heat source (e.g., solar collectors), and a stainless steel corrugated tubing coil for efficient domestic hot water heating, which also allows the unit to function as an instantaneous water heater. The maximum operating pressure of the storage tank is 0.3 MPa.
Technical features
The tank's casing is made of black sheet steel and is thermally insulated with a 100 mm thick layer of polystyrene foam; this insulation is removable and protected by a laminate sheath. The stainless steel coil ensures a large heat transfer surface and rapid heating of domestic water.
To expand functionality, electrically heated cartridges of the EJK 1500 ÷ 9000 type from ZUG "ELEKTROMET" can be used. The design and dimensions can be found in the manufacturer's specifications; connections and mounting points must be made according to the markings on the housing.
Safety and assembly instructions
The storage tank may only be operated in closed heating systems in conjunction with a functioning safety valve. A safety valve with a maximum opening pressure of 0.3 MPa must be installed on the heating water return line; this valve protects against excessive pressure buildup in the heating circuit.
A safety valve with a rated opening pressure of 0.67 MPa (6.7 bar) must be installed at the cold water inlet to the stainless steel coil and at the solar inlet. No shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the storage tank, and the safety valve outlet must not be blocked or obstructed.
Recommended additional components
To extend the service life of the storage tank and ensure trouble-free operation of the safety valve, the manufacturer recommends the use of mechanical filter systems (e.g., wound filters) on the cold water inlet directly upstream of the safety valve. These filters remove solid contaminants such as sand, corrosion particles, or sludge.
For electric auxiliary heating, only cartridge heaters with insulated heating elements are permitted during the warranty period; the EJK series from ELEKTROMET meets this requirement. All auxiliary components must be installed according to the respective manufacturer's instructions.
Maintenance and operation
The safety valve's functionality must be checked at least once a month and always before each commissioning after decommissioning. Before any maintenance or repair work, the respective systems must be shut down and secured in accordance with safety regulations.
Repairs to the storage tank and water installation may only be carried out by qualified personnel. Regular inspections and proper maintenance increase the operational reliability and service life of the device.
Installation of a heating cartridge
During the warranty period, only electrically heated cartridges with insulated heating elements may be used. ELEKTROMET EJK cartridge heaters (type EJK 1500 ÷ 9000) are recommended. Installation and electrical connection must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and applicable standards.
Areas of application and advantages
The WGJ-BN INOX SOLAR is suitable for residential and commercial properties where a combination of buffer storage for heating systems and on-demand hot water preparation is desired. It is particularly advantageous for use in systems with solar collectors, heat pumps, or conventional boilers.
The combination of a large heat exchange surface, compact design, and good thermal insulation enables rapid heat delivery and energy efficiency. The stainless steel coil ensures hygienic heating of domestic water without direct storage for extended periods, thus reducing the risk of Legionella.
